Man oh man, God did some amazing things this summer and continues to do some amazing things in my life right now!
Let's start off with some of the highlights from my summer that I can remember.
I would say the most impactful moment all summer was seeing a high school kid accept Christ into his life one night after closing campfire. When I first heard that he was making the decision I started to cry tears of joy, knowing that I now had another brother in Christ that I would spend all of eternity with! After listening to his story it made me thankful for the family that I had grown up with, although he is such a strong man now because of what he went through at a young age! It's such a blessing to continue to walk with him in his walk outside of camp, just being able to encourage him and support him in anyway I can.
I would say the second most memorable part of my summer was an off day camping trip/ 4 wheeling trip that I went on with Blake, Tim, Katie Mac, Heather, and Sophi. Just being out in God's beautiful creation in the mountains of Colorado was such a blessing by itself. Then add in the company of fellow brothers and sister in Christ was probably the biggest blessing I could ask for. Fellowshiping with them, cruising the 4 wheelers, running in rivers, and late night campfire talks about our God was such an amazing and unforgettable memory!
Overall I think my heart was transformed in so many ways, God especially taught me that encouragement for other brothers and sisters can have such an amazing impact on their life!
Now fast forward a couple months, God is still moving and doing huge things in my life!
Recently, I started a new journey in life. Leaving the college young life position that I had been doing the last 1-2 years and started doing high school young life at Eldorado/La Cueva high schools. It is such a blessing to be able to see kids get changed by the love of Christ week in and week out. It seems like God is changing hearts weekly, and I'm so blessed to be His vessel of love to these kids. I see who I used to be in a lot of the kids that come to young life, really just trying to fit in and find there place and sadly looking for it in a lot of the wrong places. Just knowing that there is such an amazing hope for these kids and that what they are going through right now is exactly where God wants is amazing to me.
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to go to a Young Life camp in Williams, Arizona for a leaders weekend. Hundreds of leaders from all over the southwest showed up for a weekend to learn about, worship and spread Jesus! For me the weekend was exactly what I needed, it brought light into some dark parts of life that I had just been pushing away! I was just reminded how powerful God has made us to be, we are equipped to go out daily and spread the gospel to those who we are around. We shouldn't be afraid of what they think because he already have victory, we cannot loose in this life.
Then most recently I have been blessed enough to have the opportunity to play on the women's basketball teams practice squad at UNM. 1) It is awesome to get in shape again. 2) Awesome to be playing ball daily again 3) A blessing that I get to encourage and love on more people at UNM!
I guess overall there are a couple things that God has taught me in the past few months!
1) Love and encouragement!
It goes leaps and bounds father than you could ever imagine! Just calling out something awesome that you see someone doing, or encouraging somebody in their walk with Christ is such an awesome way to bring Jesus to others!
2) Guarding/Purifying My Heart and Transforming my mind!
The lord has been teaching me to just constantly be aware of where I am letting my thoughts go and making sure that they are staying obedient to Christ and what He taught. Learning that I need to prepare myself now as a man who will treat a woman correctly and learning how to guard her heart for her, not drawing it out so quickly as I have done in the past! (Ephesians 5:25-28) That scripture is something that I have been and will be meditating on and letting sink into my heart in the upcoming months! Just learning that woman's heart is not something we as guys should mess with, but we should guard it so that we can be spiritual guiders and not heart breakers!
3) God is Able!
Lastly, God is ABLE! He will come through even when you might not be ready for it. He is so faithful and He can do anything! He will answer prayers and He won't answer prayers, either way it is for the best and so we should know that He doesn't have plans to hurt or harm us but to prosper us! He just wants us to trust that He will come through and heal, restore, change or whatever we ask Him to do in our lives or the lives of others around us.
I hope if you are reading this that you are having a fantastic day and that you know that you are loved by your maker! The One who wove you together in your mothers womb, you were made perfect and created in the image of the creator of the universe! He loves you and He wants to know you more and more everyday!
He will not fail you...Give it a try! All else fades away, JESUS is staying for eternity!
You are Loved!
